The Youth Social Action Fund is open for grant applications between £1,000 and £5,000 to promote social action amongst young people.

Social action is about stepping up to help others, learning new things, having fun, and building personal skills along the way.
It might involve volunteering, raising money for a great local cause, or campaigning for something that young people really believe it.

Currently, 4 in 10 young people regularly take part in social action, but we want to see that number increase by 50% by 2020.
We know that young people have energy, talent and commitment to contribute to their communities, so the Youth Social Action Fund has been created to make this a reality.

With funding from the UK Government and the Big Lottery Fund, Somerset Community Foundation is looking for community groups in our county who can run great social action projects.

Young people might want to organise traditional social action, like regular youth volunteering at a care home, or something different, such as micro-volunteering activities where individual young people decide what they want to do.
For example, a group of friends might create a social media campaign promoting positive body image.

Applications for between £1,000 and £5,000 can be made now via our website, with the deadline for this year’s funding being 12 May 2017.
