Don’t forget to register to vote to take part in the UK Parliamentary election
With only one week to go until the deadline to register to vote in the UK Parliamentary election, South Somerset District Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered in time.
On Thursday 8 June voters in South Somerset will go to the polls to vote for their MP to represent the Yeovil and the Somerton & Frome constituencies in the UK Parliamentary election. The deadline to register to vote is midnight on Monday 22 May.
Anyone not already registered to vote at their current address can register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. Registering to vote takes less than five minutes; all you need is your National Insurance number to hand.
Ian Clarke, Electoral Registration Officer for South Somerset District Council said, “With only one week to go, time is running out to make sure you can take part in the elections on Thursday 8 June. These elections are an opportunity to have a say on who represents local people at a national level. But if you’re not registered by 22 May, you won’t be able to vote.”
