THE CHARD BODEN CENTRE CHALLENGE
It’s National Dementia Awareness Week starting 14th May and we want you to get involved!
We need to raise money by holding Red & Yellow themed events, so get your thinking caps on for the centre! We need to raise £50 across our centres, but hopefully lots more!
What’s it all about?
Did you know 1 in 3 of us will be affected by someone living with a dementia? 1 in 3 of those born in 2015 will develop a dementia. This has and will have a considerable impact on both our personal and business lives!
Reminiscence Learning, one of our sub-contractors, are always coming up with new and innovative ways to spread the dementia awareness message and to raise funds to ensure the continuation of their community projects for people with dementia and their carers.
During National Dementia Awareness, they are going to create a GIANT (3m x 2.5m) dementia awareness jigsaw and they need your help! They are asking organisations to sign up to organise a fund raising red and yellow themed event during National Dementia Awareness Week. Money raised will go towards purchasing a piece of this jigsaw & it would be great if SS&L can support this. All we need to do is raise a minimum of £50 across our centres, which shouldn’t be too hard.
Why red & yellow? As we age we lose the ability to differentiate colours clearly these are the last colours we lose.
So my challenge to you is to get involved, come up with some ideas for Red & Yellow events, see how creative you can be & how much money you can raise.
On Friday 19th May at the Orchard Centre in Taunton the giant jigsaw will be presented at a ceremony with dignitaries, including Archie (their mascot scarecrow) and of course plenty of press coverage.
Dementia Awareness Week is in May, 14th – 20th
