This Grade 2* listed building with a flight of stairs rising from the far end to upper foyers and galleries, culminating in the Town Hall. The central foyer is flooded by natural light from high above the main staircase. Crowning this space is the Mayor’s Parlour, sited symbolically at the heart of the building. There is a lift giving full access to upper areas. On the ground floor the auditorium and foyer area is level to ensure ease of access. Our reception desk in the foyer is manned by Town Council staff from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays.
The Auditorium and Stage
The stage area has excellent performance and storage space with dressing rooms and toilets and a stage door servicing access to the rear. When in use the auditorium has tiered seating. The ceiling reveals the original cast iron market hall beams, cast in Chard.
Size of stage – 6 x 5 mtrs approx
The Auditorium is available for a range of professional and amateur events from small recitals to full theatrical productions and is equipped with sound and lighting plus four excellent below stage dressing rooms.
This room is also a perfect setting for open conference sessions, formal ceremonies, parties and Wedding receptions, it is also an ideal space for entertainment in the form of a disco or live band. Size of auditorium – 9 x 16 mtrs approx

The Auditorium Restaurant The Guildhall Restaurant is the ideal place to entertain business and conference guests offering catering for parties or simply suppling refreshments at your event.

The Town Hall The available floor area is large enough to accommodate meetings, receptions and buffets.
Size – 8 x 11 metres approx. The room has capacity for up to 60 people.
