 Chard Walks a FREE leaflet with six circular walks in and around Chard.  Produced by partnership between the Blackdown Hills AONB and SSDC's Area Development Team there are walks suitable for novice and experienced walkers, taking in some super countryside and stunning views.

Chard is the highest Town in Somerset and nestles in a corner of South Somerset between Dorset and Devon. The town is surrounded by beautiful countryside and has a wealth of lovely places to visit for all the family.

Chard has an excellent variety of hotels, guesthouses, public Inns, cafe's and restaurants offering wonderful hospitality. The town affords ample parking with a wide selection of shops and supermarkets.

Food and Drink 
From traditional home cooked pub lunches to delicious cream teas, there are many local gastronomic experiences to try. 

 

The surrounding area is renowned for apple orchards and cider.  Hundreds of tonnes of apples are pressed every year by local producers such as Perrys Cider at Dowlish Wake, Bridge Farm Near Yeovil  and Burrow Hill.

 

  

Within easy reach
The cultural cities of Bath, Exeter and Bristol are all within an easy journey from Chard, also only an hours drive to the lovely coast area known as the English Riviera. 
Heading just half an hour south of the town is the spectacular Jurassic Coast, England’s first natural World Heritage Site. This section of Dorset and East Devon coastline has become a Heritage Site due to its outstanding geology.  Along the whole coastline there are wonderful seaside towns and villages to visit. Including Lyme Regis world famous for fossils. 

Chard CarnivalCarnival Season
During the month's of September through to late November the carnival season reigns supreme, and is a must for all the family. The biggest carnival is held in Bridgewater on the 5th  November starting at 7.00pm
