The Guildhall has a deep sense of quality and civic pride and is essentially a distinct listed building of significance and value.

Following it’s redevelopment the building, whilst in part being restored to its original specification, also has a flexible modern interior which provides full public access in a way that reflects the quality and importance of the building.

The Guildhall has a flight of stairs rising from the far end up to upper foyers and galleries, culminating in the Town Hall. The central foyer is flooded by daylight from a glass lantern high above the main staircase. Crowning this space is the new Mayor's Parlour, sited symbolically at the heart of the building. There is a lift to give full access to upper areas.

The stage area has excellent performance and storage space with dressings rooms and toilets provided and a stage door servicing access to the rear. When in use the auditorium has tiered seating and an upper balcony at the far end providing maximum seating. The ceiling reveals the original cast iron market hall structure, which spans between the pillars, cast in Chard.

The Guildhall is a multi faceted building fulfilling the diverse requirements for activities and events.
